| @ | Sep. 22, 2008 Sumitomo Corporation and Japan AE Power Systems Corporation receive order Sumitomo Corporation (President: Susumu Kato; Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan; hereafter, gSumitomoh) and Japan AE Power Systems Corporation (President: Takashi Kano; Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan; hereafter, gAE Powerh) have signed the long term contract to supplying Auto transformers and Shunt reactors for substations with state-owned South African power company ESKOM Holdings Limited (Headquarters: Sandton City, South Africa; hereafter, gESKOMh). The long term contract is valid for 7years from 2008 until 2015 and the total amount will be expected approx. 20 billion Japanese yen. The contract is inclusive of an option to extend contract periods for 3 years. Sumitomo and AE Power will receive 1st purchase order that covers the design, engineering, manufacture, installation, and testing of three 765-kV, 2000-MVA Auto transformers and four Shunt reactors (765-kV, 400-MVAr)as@1st step of the long term contract and expect the further orders based on Eskomfs expansion plan for the transmission network in South Africa. Sumitomo and AE Power were awarded the contract following a high evaluation of the superior technical capabilities of AE Power. Sumitomo and AE Power last concluded a major contract to supply 765 kV Auto transformers and Shunt reactors in 2007 and are installing the transformers and reactors in South Africa now. The power projects are being carried out to meet rising demand for power in South Africa. Sumitomo and AE Power would like to contribute to expand the power systems not only for South Africa but also African countries.
